I have a Canon 550d, there Helios 44-m4, I want to order the adapter ring. I will order on E-bay. But there adapters M42 to EF divided into the ring with a flange and without flange. I can not understand what it is and what a difference between the rings with flanges and without them?

Thank you, so order a flange)), and as far as I understand from the comments on the pages of sellers, then with or without flange are designed for different types of lenses (automatic or manual).

the way it is. Automatic lenses, such as Helios 44-m4, need an adapter flange, otherwise it will be impossible to change the aperture and have all the time to shoot the open. Or "finish" the lens.
